Position Summary

Psychiatrist will provide direct patient care in the Consultation/Liaison service areas, particularly the Emergency Department (ED). Opportunity for flexible schedule with rotating shifts and shift differential.

Required Qualifications

M.D., D.O., or equivalent and ABPN board certification/board eligibility in General Psychiatry. Graduate of U.S. accredited residency program in Psychiatry or Internal Medicine/Psychiatry or Family Medicine/Psychiatry. The candidate must hold a medical license (or be eligible for licensure) in the State of Kansas.

Preferred Qualifications

Dual Training Program or Fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine preferred. Experience in an outpatient and/or inpatient Consultation Liaison Psychiatry setting and previous academic experience is desirable.

Provide direct patient care in the Consultation/Liaison service areas, particularly the Emergency Department (ED).

Provide teleconsultation to affiliated facilities. Provide support for Behavioral Response team.

Maintain a productive clinical practice at the Medical Center or outreach site which provides a robust educational experience for psychiatry resident physicians, trainees and students.

Work effectively within the ED and with external agencies to facilitate continuity of patient care and follow-up.

Participate in and contribute to Continuous Performance Improvement processes.

Opportunity to collaborate in research and clinical activities with other faculty.

Maintain flexibility regarding clinical assignments in the best interest of the Department.

Participate in departmental committees and activities, faculty meetings, and in hospital and medical school committees.
