The Education/Research Assistant will work directly with ZIEL staff to facilitate education or research activities within ZIEL This is an hourly position that will involve assisting ZIEL program directors.

This position is in the Zamierowski Institute for Experiential Learning (ZIEL), a partnership between the University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Health System. ZIEL serves as the University of Kansas Medical Center’s and The University of Kansas Hospital’s advanced healthcare education institute, using simulated patients and settings to provide learners in healthcare with high-quality deliberate practice and assessment of complex healthcare task work and teamwork.

This position reports to the Director Simulation Research, Assessment and Outcomes. Depending on the interests and skills, this project could include: conducting literature reviews, supporting IRB documentation and approval process, audio/video transcription or coding, data analysis, participating in project meetings, developing databases, etc.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

The primary function of this position is to assist the ZIEL collaboration in meeting research goals. This will be accomplished through data collection and data preparation for key research focus areas including central venous catheter placement and resuscitation research and other critical research areas or quality and patient safety improvement research. Examples of the ZIEL Education/Research Associate duties include proctoring simulation activities, assist in set-up of educational activities, assist in carrying out learning events, including demonstrating certain aspects of simulation procedures, or reviewing videos of past simulation events in order to assign a performance rating.
