Position Summary

Physician-scientist with a basic research interest; guaranteed protected time and start-up package reflective of funding and potential. Past experience desirable. The Department has a fully accredited residency program with 16 residents. The School of Medicine is home to successful BIRCWH, WRHR and SCOR programs, providing extensive opportunities for translational and basic research opportunities. The Institute for Reproductive Health and Regenerative Medicine (IRHRM) facilitates a consortium of diverse physicians and researchers. State-of-the-art equipment and resources support a passion for research that makes a difference in human lives. Eligible candidates may be considered for acceptance into the WRHR Program.

Required Qualifications

Board Certified/eligible in obstetrics & gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine. Eligible for Kansas and Missouri medical license.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrate competence in areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships and technical skills. Outstanding written and communication skills.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

Management of high risk service one week per month. Maintain a MFM ambulatory service 2 half days per week. Write referral letters as appropriate. Interpret obstetrical ultrasounds. Perform obstetrical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. These patient-care duties may involve the attending physician only, or they may involve training medical students, residents, or fellows. Generally, support the other clinical and service activities of the School.

Teach by giving one lecture each week, as assigned by the Chair, to faculty, fellows, residents or students.

Work toward the development of an independent research program. Assist in the writing of grant proposals with a view to obtaining independent funding.

Become a member of the IRHRM and participate/present at the regular chalk talk sessions.

Description of Job Duty

Guide and assist the house staff and students in preparing talks for meetings, in writing publications, and in conducting and presenting the results from research projects. Be an example of an academic physician by conducting clinical research in the Division. Support the other scholarly activities of the School.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair, or the Director of MFM.
