Position Summary

This position is in the Zamierowski Institute for Experiential Learning (ZIEL), a partnership between the University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Health System. ZIEL is an advanced healthcare education institute, using simulated patients and settings to provide learners in healthcare with high-quality deliberate practice and assessment of complex healthcare task work and teamwork. This is a temporary student position reporting to Matt Lineberry, PhD, ZIEL Director of Simulation Research, Assessment and Outcomes.

Required Qualifications

1. Degree-seeking graduate student, admitted to a KUMC or KU graduate program in relevant discipline such as education, psychology, health policy and management, biostatistics, nursing, clinical research, or another related field.

2. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours of KUMC/KU graduate level courses during fall and spring semesters; and 3 hours during the summer semester.

3. Interest in simulation research.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in relevant discipline such as social/behavioral science (e.g. psychology, educational measurement, educational technology), research (e.g., psychometrics, biostatistics, medical informatics), or a health-related field (e.g., nursing, public health, health policy & management).

2. Doctoral student admitted to a KUMC or KU graduate program in relevant discipline.

3. Proficient using advanced statistical functions in Excel, SPSS, and/or R.

4. Significant prior behavioral/educational research training and/or experience

The ZIEL GRA assists with various aspects of simulation research and education. Examples of possible activities include: assisting in data collection during simulations, video coding, data preparation and/or analysis.
