Position Summary

This position will work within the Consult-Liaison team, providing direct psychiatric patient care in the Emergency Department and in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Required Qualifications

M.D., D.O., or equivalent and ABPN board certification/board eligibility in General Psychiatry. Graduate of U.S. accredited residency program in Psychiatry or Internal Medicine/Psychiatry or Family Medicine/Psychiatry. The candidate must hold a medical license (or be eligible for licensure) in the State of Kansas.

Preferred Qualifications

Dual Internal Medicine/Psychiatry or Family Medicine training program or fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine preferred. Experience in an Emergency Department outpatient and /or inpatient Consultation Liaison Psychiatry setting and previous academic experience is desirable.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

Provide direct services to patients within the Consultation/Liaison service areas, particularly Emergency Department.

Generate a clinical practice that provides an excellent educational experience for psychiatry resident physicians, psychology trainees and students.

Provide clinical supervisory responsibility of resident physicians in Emergency Department, and outpatient and inpatient settings.

Description of Job Duty

Teach resident physicians, psychology trainees and students in areas of faculty’s expertise in didactic lectures and in clinical settings.

Maintain a productive clinical practice at the Medical Center or outreach site to generate departmental income to offset cost basis.

Description of Job Duty

Work effectively within the Emergency Department, the Adult Outpatient and Inpatient programs and with outside collaborating agencies to facilitate interaction and harmony in the Department and effective continuation of patient care and follow-up.

Participate in clinical and administrative on-call activities as assigned and participate in ECT rotation, weekend call, continuous performance improvement and collaborate in research/clinical activities with other Psychiatry faculty as assigned.

Participate in Medical School and Department committees as needed.
